Infinite Cars is a pixel-art dodging game set on a highway that just keeps going, and you can play Infinite Cars unblocked in your browser with one finger or a mouse. You steer a small red car sideways to slip around orange cones and other drivers. Speed is not yours to choose, and there is no brake. All you have is a distance counter that climbs higher with every second you survive.
How to Play Infinite Cars
Click or tap the title screen. A traffic light hangs over the road for about four seconds along with a quick hint. Once it clears, the car starts moving forward without any help from you.
To steer, grab your car with a finger or the mouse and pull it left or right. It can go anywhere on the pavement, from one edge to the other, but the grass is off limits. When you release it, the car stays in that spot. The pavement is narrow, well under half the screen width, so there is never much room to spare.
Three Kinds of Trouble
The highway throws a few different hazards at you:
- Orange cones are parked in place and never move.
- Slower drivers sit up ahead, and you gain on them over time. They drive at roughly half to three quarters of your speed.
- Speeders show up behind you and blast by. They are about one and a half times as fast as you.
Each new car is a coin flip between a slow driver and a speeder, so expect plenty of both.
How the Traffic Thinks
Computer drivers are smart enough to avoid cones and each other. When one sees something blocking its path a short distance ahead, it starts drifting sideways, picking left or right at random. If it reaches the edge of the road, it turns around and drifts the other way. Once the way is clear, it goes back to driving straight.
That sideways drift is slow, so you can usually see a lane change coming a moment before it happens. It also means the opening you were heading for can vanish. One touch with anything ends the run in a burst of pixels. A Crashed! message appears along with your best distance, and tapping again sets you back on the road.
Infinite Cars Tips for Longer Runs
You only control one direction, so small decisions matter a lot:
- Predict lane changes. A slow driver who sees a cone ahead will slide over. Figure out where it is headed before you take the space it leaves.
- Hover around the center. Both edges stay within easy reach when a speeder comes up from the back.
- Keep holding on. Steering stops the moment you let go of your car, and grabbing it again eats up time you may not have.
- Make tiny corrections. Clearing a cone rarely takes more than a nudge, while a wild swerve can put you in someone else’s path.
- Listen as well as look. You hear a sound when another vehicle draws even with you, which is a useful hint while your eyes are up the road.
Mistakes New Players Make
The first is parking right behind a slow car. It feels safe, but if a cone shows up in front of it, that car will swing into your lane with little warning. Pass it instead. The second is hugging an edge. A car drifting away from a cone can push you into the gutter with nowhere to go. The third is watching only the top of the screen, which is exactly how speeders from behind catch you.
On a Phone or a Chromebook
The layout is tall and narrow, which suits a phone in portrait. On a Chromebook, dragging with a trackpad or mouse feels the same, though a mouse gives finer control than a trackpad for the small nudges this game needs. There is a speaker icon in the upper right corner if you need silence.
Runs are short, often under a minute at first, so it slots into the gap between classes. Because the record is stored on your device, it will be waiting for you the next time you open the game in the same browser.
About the Game
Takane Ichinose created the art, from the trees and flowers to the cars and traffic light, plus every sound you hear. The author describes it as a simple time killer with no set goal beyond surviving. It is built on the open-source Phaser engine.
