Racing games are easy to start and hard to master: hold the gas, then learn every place where holding the gas is a mistake. The seven car games on this page split into three groups. Some put you against computer drivers, some are pure time attacks, and some are endless roads where you just try to go farther than last time.

Racing Games Against Rivals

Micro Racer is a top-down, three-lap race against three computer cars. The track is random every time you restart, so you can’t memorize it. Boost pads give a short burst of speed and disappear for a few seconds after someone uses one, and holding Space pulls a handbrake drift.

Redrock is a 3D downhill run against three rivals on a coastal mountain road several kilometers long. The world looks like a comic book, with bold black outlines. Some sections have ramps that launch you into the air, and a gap number under the timer shows how far you trail the car ahead.

Mini Grand Prix is the deep one. Spin a globe to choose one of 24 venues, join one of six invented teams, set a single qualifying lap, then run a three-lap race. You make choices about tyres, weather and battery power, and drivers who never pit get twenty seconds added to their result. Your season table stays in your browser.

Beat the Clock

Speedway gives you sixty seconds on a looping track full of twelve slower cars. Your score is distance, so clean passing matters most. The clock only counts down while you are rolling.

Hue Jumper starts you with 20 seconds on a random road over hills. Each checkpoint adds 10 seconds, up to a 20-second maximum, and repaints the whole world a new color. Steer with the mouse, hold the button to brake and double-click to jump over boulders and trees.

Endless Roads

Infinite Cars has no brake and no speed control. You drag a little red car left and right to dodge cones and traffic while a distance counter climbs. It is the simplest game in the group.

Road Agent mixes driving with shooting on a highway that twists forever. Your blue car has two forward guns. Wreck the hostile drivers, spare the regular traffic, and drop an oil slick with Z or a smoke screen with X when someone is on your tail.

Picking by Device

Phone or tablet: Infinite Cars is the best fit, since it is all dragging. Micro Racer and Speedway also support touch. Hue Jumper, Redrock and Road Agent only partly work on phones, and Redrock needs to be held in landscape.

Chromebook or laptop: Micro Racer, Speedway, Redrock and Road Agent all use the arrow keys or W A S D. Mini Grand Prix needs a keyboard and does not support touch. Its layout is unusual, so read the controls first.

Controller: Micro Racer, Redrock, Road Agent and Speedway accept a gamepad.

Redrock asks more of your computer than most browser games, and older or low-power machines may stutter. If a school Chromebook struggles with it, Micro Racer is a lighter top-down race that runs well on older devices.

Driving Tips That Carry Over

  1. Brake before the corner, not in it. Slowing early lets you turn in cleanly and get back on the gas sooner. This helps most in Micro Racer and Mini Grand Prix.
  2. Look far ahead. Micro Racer’s camera looks farther down the road as you speed up. Use that view to plan the next bend.
  3. Don’t clip traffic. In Speedway, bumping a slower car from behind nearly halves your speed. Wait for a clear gap.
  4. Stay off the grass. In Speedway the car slows to a crawl on grass. Keep the gas pressed so you can creep back onto the road.
  5. Restart often. Micro Racer gives you a new track with N during a race, and Hue Jumper rolls a fresh road with R. A new layout is good practice.

More Fast Games

If shooting from the car in Road Agent was your favorite part, the action games have jets, tanks and space fighters. For other ways to compete, the sports games include golf, pool and a penalty shootout.

Racing Games: common questions

Are there unblocked racing games with computer opponents?

Yes. Micro Racer lines up three computer cars beside you, Redrock has three rivals on the mountain road, and in Mini Grand Prix you race against the other five teams.

Which car game works best on a phone?

Infinite Cars, since you just drag the car left and right with a finger. Micro Racer and Speedway also support touch. Mini Grand Prix does not, so save it for a keyboard.

Which racing game is the quickest to play?

Speedway always lasts sixty seconds of driving. Hue Jumper starts you with 20 seconds and adds time at each checkpoint, so most runs are short too.

What are the controls in Mini Grand Prix?

W speeds up, D brakes and the left and right arrows steer. Space fires the battery boost, and P requests a pit stop, after which keys 1 to 5 pick your tyres.
