About Totally Science

Totally Science is a small, independent website with 87 free browser games in 9 categories. The goal is simple: give students a clean place to play during breaks, with games that load quickly and pages that explain what you are about to play.

How we choose games

We only add a game when all of these are true:

  • The license allows it. The code and the art or sound must use an open license, such as MIT, GPL, Apache, Creative Commons or a public-domain dedication. If a license is unclear, we skip the game.
  • It runs on its own. The game has to work as plain files on our server, with no outside game server, account or plugin.
  • It is safe for school. No gore, no gambling with real money and no chat with strangers.
  • It actually plays well. We test each game in a browser before it goes live, and we describe only what we saw.

Credit where it's due

None of these games were made by us. They were built by independent developers, game-jam teams and hobbyists who chose to share their work. Every game page lists the creator, the license and a link to the original source code. Our editorial team plays, writes and fact-checks every page. The original license file stays in the game folder. When we change something, such as a title or a font, we note it in a changes file next to the game. The credits page lists everything in one place.

What we don't do

  • We don't ask for your name, email or age to play.
  • We don't sell anything inside the games.
  • We don't invent ratings, reviews or play counts.

A note for teachers and parents

We want students to play at the right time: lunch, free periods and after school. If a school decides to block game sites, we respect that. Questions or concerns are welcome on our contact page.
