Tank Combat Unblocked

Steer a blue tank through enemy waves and ricochet shots around stone cover.

Tank Combat is a top-down arena shooter set in a small 3D world, where your blue tank faces wave after wave of enemy tanks. When you play Tank Combat unblocked, the fun is in the bank shots: every shell bounces off stone once, so you can hit tanks hiding behind cover. A red aiming line shows where your next shot will go, which makes those tricky angles easy to learn.

How to Play Tank Combat

Press PLAY and you start on the left edge of the arena with a two-second flashing shield. The enemies spawn on the right side. Wave 1 has just two of them, so it’s a good place to practice.

The tank body and the gun move separately. W A S D or the arrow keys turn the body to face that direction and then roll it forward. The turret follows your mouse pointer. Click or press Space to fire, and hold the button for steady shots. You can have up to four of your shells flying at once, which is far more than any single enemy tank.

Destroy every enemy tank to clear the wave. A banner announces “WAVE CLEAR”, and after a short pause the next wave begins on a fresh map.

Ricochets, Crates and Shell Rules

Knowing exactly how a shell behaves is the key to this game:

  • A shell can bounce off a stone block or the arena edge one time. On its second hit, it breaks apart.
  • Wooden crates stop a shell and get smashed, which opens new lines of fire.
  • Two shells that hit each other both vanish, so you can shoot an incoming shell out of the air.
  • Your shell is safe for you only until its first bounce. After that it damages any tank, including you.
  • Enemy shells don’t care whose side they’re on either. Enemies can hit each other.

The red guide line traces your shot to the first thing it will strike, so use it to line up bounces before you pull the trigger.

Enemy Tanks and Points

There are four enemy types, each worth a different number of points:

  • Sentry (100 points) never moves and fires slowly.
  • Scout (200 points) keeps its distance and shoots one shell at a time.
  • Hunter (400 points) shows up from wave 3. It’s quicker, aims faster and fires more often.
  • Heavy (600 points) arrives from wave 5. It’s bigger and slower, can have three shells out, and takes three hits to destroy.

Points count no matter what destroys an enemy, so a tank caught in a barrel blast or hit by its own teammate still adds to your score. Clearing a wave adds a bonus of 100 times the wave number.

Waves, Maps and Hazards

Each wave brings two enemies plus a few more as the numbers climb, topping out at eight. The arena cycles through four layouts in order: a classic map with a center column and side rails, a pillars map, a cross map and a corridors map. After wave 4 the loop starts again.

Hazards grow too. Mines appear from wave 2, adding one more each wave up to six. Explosive barrels join from wave 3, up to five. Driving over a mine or shooting either hazard sets off a blast that deals two hits to every tank nearby. That’s enough to destroy most tanks outright, while a heavy survives with one hit left. Blasts can also set off other hazards close by, causing chain reactions.

When you lose a life, you respawn after a moment with the same short shield, and the surviving enemies stay where they are.

Tank Combat Tips and Strategy

  1. Read the guide line first. It’s the fastest way to learn bank shots.
  2. Fight from behind stone. Sit next to a block and bounce shots around its edge while enemy fire hits the wall.
  3. Save barrels for crowds. One shot near a group of enemies can wipe out half the wave.
  4. Take out sentries early. They can’t dodge, and removing them cuts down crossfire.
  5. Use your spawn shield. Those two seconds are a free chance to reposition.
  6. Break crates on purpose. Clear the ones blocking your shots, but leave the ones covering you.

Mistakes New Players Make

The number one mistake is firing point-blank into a wall. The shell bounces straight back and costs you a life. Another is forgetting the mines. They sit flat on the ground and are easy to roll onto while you watch the enemies.

New players also tend to charge across the open middle. Enemy shells bounce too, so staying near cover is much safer than racing toward a target.

Settings, Saving and Devices

The options menu lets you switch off shadows, glow and screen shake, which helps on slower school laptops. Glow starts off on touch devices. Those choices are saved in your browser. Esc or the menu icon in the top right pauses the game, and gamepads work too. While you sit on the title screen, two teams of computer tanks battle each other in the background.

Tank Combat questions

How do you win Tank Combat?

There is no final wave. You clear one wave after another by destroying every enemy tank, and the goal is to push your score and wave number as high as you can before your lives run out.

Can my own shot destroy me?

Yes. A fresh shell can't touch you, but once it has bounced it hurts any tank it reaches, yours included. Firing into a wall you are touching is the classic way to blow yourself up.

Can I earn more lives?

You start each run with three. Every third wave you clear adds one, up to a limit of five.

Can I play Tank Combat on a Chromebook or tablet?

Yes. On a Chromebook you drive with W A S D and aim with the trackpad or a mouse. Touch screens get two virtual sticks, the left one to drive and the right one to aim and fire, best held in landscape.

Is Tank Combat free?

Yes. It is a free, open-source browser game with no account or download needed.
