Progress Knight is an idle game told entirely through text, progress bars and buttons, and you can play Progress Knight unblocked on nearly any computer. It follows one person through life in a medieval realm, starting at 14 with empty pockets and the life of a beggar. Time moves by itself: your job brings in money while the skill you picked slowly improves. Eventually old age catches up, and a strange amulet lets you begin again with lasting bonuses, so each new life goes further than the last.
How to Play Progress Knight
You always work one job and study one skill. Clicking a different row switches to it. Leveling gets slower as you go, while each job level raises your pay a little. Your natural lifespan is 70 years, and the age counter at the top tells you how much of it is left.
Better jobs open up once the job below reaches level 10 and you meet certain skill requirements. You can follow three ladders:
- Common work: Beggar, Farmer, Fisherman, Miner, Blacksmith and Merchant. Miner asks for Strength 10, Blacksmith for Strength 30 and Merchant for Bargaining 50.
- Military: Squire, Footman, Veteran footman, Knight, Veteran knight, Elite knight, Holy knight and Legendary knight. Squire only needs Strength 5, but the higher ranks also want Battle tactics and, near the top, Mana control.
- The Arcane Association: Student up to Chairman. Getting in takes 200 in both Concentration and Meditation, and each magic rank needs more Mana control, up to 2,000 for Chairman.
Skills That Shape a Life
Each skill gives a small bonus per level. Concentration speeds up skill xp, Productivity speeds up job xp, Bargaining trims your expenses and Meditation raises happiness. On the combat side, Strength raises military pay, Battle tactics speeds military xp and Muscle memory speeds Strength training. Skills unlock in a chain too, so Productivity needs Concentration 5 and Meditation needs Concentration 30 plus Productivity 20.
Magic skills come later. Immortality and its stronger version lengthen your lifespan, and Time warping, unlocked once Mage reaches level 10, makes days pass faster.
Money, Homes and the Shop
Coins come in four sizes, written c, s, g and p, and 100 of one makes 1 of the next. The Shop tab appears once your savings reach fifty times the daily cost of a Tent.
- Homes lift your happiness, and happiness speeds up every kind of xp. A Tent costs 15c a day and gives 1.4 times happiness, while the Grand palace at the top gives 60 times.
- Items like the Book or Dumbbells help specific skills grow faster. Each one shows up in the list once you hold 100 times its daily cost.
- Upkeep never stops. Each purchase charges you every day, and going into debt takes away your home and items.
Keep an eye on the Net/day figure. If it stays above zero, you’re safe.
Rebirth and the Amulet
At 25, an Amulet tab shows up. Once you are 65 or older, clicking the eye there restarts your life. Every job and skill then earns xp faster, by a factor of 1 plus its best level divided by 10. Reaching high levels before you restart is what makes later lives fly.
Living to 200 offers a darker choice called Embrace evil. It erases even your best levels but hands you evil points and opens a new set of dark magic skills, such as Dark influence for all xp and Intimidation for lower expenses. Stronger ones like Demon training need 25 evil, and Blood meditation needs 75. You can switch time warping off with a button if you want normal speed.
Progress Knight Tips for a Smarter Climb
- Level Strength first. The soldier path depends on it, and jobs like Miner and Blacksmith need it too.
- Grab the Book quickly. At 10c a day it is the cheapest item and gives 1.5 times skill xp for the rest of that life.
- Move house only with a cushion. Leave some spare income so a bad patch won’t bankrupt you.
- Be patient with rebirth. Your bonus depends on max levels, so get the most out of each life.
- Set up automation. After age 20 you can turn on auto-promote and auto-learn. Mark unneeded skills with Skip so automatic training focuses on useful ones.
Mistakes New Players Make
The biggest is buying every home upgrade the moment it appears. A Cottage costs 750c a day, far more than early jobs pay, and debt wipes out everything you own. Another is rebirthing as soon as the option appears at 65. If a job is close to a new level, waiting a little longer raises the bonus you carry. Finally, some players train only their job and ignore skills, but most promotions are locked behind skill levels, not job levels.
Playing Between Classes
Because the game plays itself, you can let it run while you plan, and the Pause button freezes time whenever you need. It is just text and bars, so even an old Chromebook handles it. Phones work too, though the dense tables are easier to read on a larger screen. This is a game for many short check-ins over days, not a quick two-minute round.
If you like long-term planning, Canvas TD is a strategy game with more action. Prestige Tree Rewritten is another incremental game built around resets, with layers in place of lifetimes. Epoch Clicker is a more hands-on take where you click to progress. Find more slow-burn picks on the casual games page.
